Reflection

My audience for both of my compositions are going to be consumers of paraben-containing products. This audience was determined because the adverse health effects from parabens affect those who use and consume products that contain parabens. So, informing this specific audience through my two genres will be the most ideal. I am also aiming at people who are looking to live a healthier lifestyle, as they would be interested in knowing about the side effects that parabens in everyday products have.

The first genre I am choosing to work in is an Instagram post because I’ll be able to reach a lot of people to inform them of the harmful effects of parabens, and alternative products they can use. With an instagram post people will be able to click links, easily visiting other sources with more information. The second genre I am choosing to work in is a political cartoon that will show the irony of allowing parabens to be used by companies, while discouraging people from using and doing other things that can result in similar negative health effects. Using a political cartoon will allow the information to be relayed in a humorous manner, with the cartoons aiding in the delivery.
